She said he was abusive and had previously reported concerns about him to his military superiors. He was also a volunteer firefighter, but was removed after several spats with department leadership.
Just got back not long ago from seeing The Odyssey. My wife is a huge ancient Greek nerd, and loves this story and book. She's also critical of things when it comes to historical context and being true to the story I've never heard her speak such praise about a movie. Ever. Not one single complaint.
I read recently that there are people (hint, boomers and xers) upset that Gen Z pretends to be busy at work, AFTER they finish their job. Sitting at their desk. Done with work. Wasting their time til 5pm AFTER all their work is done. "This is why we can't get ahead" No, it's a old stupid system.

Maybe they should just practice locking the door and turning off the lights and remaining silent while hiding under their desks…or is that just appropriate for kindergartners? 
Dying doesn't erase the fact one was a shitty person. So, they should be remembered as a shitty person
Phil Plait@philplait.bsky.social · 4w agoWhen a politician dies we see a lot of hagiographies about them. If you mention they were a terrible person IRL, you get chastised. My feeling? If you don't want people to talk shit about you after you die, don't be shitty when you're alive.
What's sad, is there are a lot of nurses and health care workers out there that are like this. So completely against literally everything they work for. It's truly mind numbing. Saw it during COVID. See it now It's a testament to how fucked we really are as a nation.

And while not as exciting in a photo. Storm three. Produced the Effingham tornado. I saw an amazing cone. But couldn't stop fit safety reasons. This was at it was decaying
Storm two of the day. I held back for obvious reasons. Unfortunately this one would eventually produce the tornado that hit Charleston Illinois. No injuries reported fortunately
