Just talked with CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corp) about my NSF EDU-funded study on early stereotypes in STEM. With my @airinforms.bsky.social colleagues, the results show the importance of *sustained* and *evidence-based* funded efforts to expand opportunities for girls in tech at early ages.

This headline in the Washington Examiner demonstrates how little people know about what IES and NCES do. Suggesting that the head of NCES was put on leave because of dismal NAEP results is laughable. NCES is a statistical agency. It's job is to report the data as it is. 1/2

Received a letter from POTUS today purporting to remove me as Commissioner and Chair of the FEC. There's a legal way to replace FEC commissioners-this isn't it. I've been so fortunate to serve the American people and stir up some good trouble along the way. That's not changing anytime soon.

My colleague @davidimiller.bsky.social with great advice on dissemination and communications. David really understand the power of comms.

Hey #AcademicSky #EduSky! This year, I've thought a lot about the responsible dissemination of research findings. For the end of the year, thought I'd share some reflections on when, why, and how for mass media... [But there's many ways to broadly share findings! This is just one way.] 🧵 [1/16]

A thoughtful and sobering piece from my @airinforms.bsky.social colleague @davidimiller.bsky.social on early STEM stereotypes and the harm they can do.

While diverse perspectives on privacy, safety, and ethics are crucial to #tech, the field is overwhelmingly dominated by men. A new study traces this imbalance to #STEM biases in kids as young as six. More in @sciam.bsky.social from lead author AIR's @davidimiller.bsky.social:
