Every Mennonite knows the story of the Dutch Anabaptist named Dirk Willems who ran across Frozen River to escape capture. His pursuer fell through the ice and Willems sent back to rescue him. He was then rearrested, tortured and killed for his belief.

The relief press of the above mentioned story found in the Martyr’s Mirror

Two women trained as first responders were abducted by three ICE agents. One of the agents starts seizing. The other two don’t know what to do. The women jump into action and save the agent’s life, only to be re-handcuffed and processed. www.startribune.com/detained-by-...

Friends—I need you to connect to your rapid response in your city. Your ICE watch. If you don’t have one, start one. I’m watching Minneapolis and we need to be prepared for what comes next. Know the activists in our neighborhoods. If you don’t know your rights now is the time to learn. Have a plan.

A few years back, I heard my wife outside telling someone "You'll never be able to read a book because you can never learn how to read. You're incapable." I was surprised, her words were so uncharacteristically cruel. Then I realized she was talking to our dog.

Congratulations to my student Dana Levy for successfully defending her MA thesis in fulfillment of her degree in Jewish Studies at the UMD. Pictured is Danya with her thesis committee: (me), Max Grossman, and Ed Cook from CUA. Professor Cook served as outside reader. #Hebrew #Semitics

Found this while going thru some old papers! Years ago when I was a fellow at the Albright in Jerusalem, the director Sy Gitin gave me a bunch of off-prints. This one, the editio princeps of the Ekron Inscription, is autographed by the three authors: Gitin, Trudy Dothan & Joseph Naveh. #epigraphy
