1cc #917: Chouji Meikyuu Legion. This is a very civilized game for its time: Enemies don't fire at you if you're close, so you never get point-blanked by a cheap shot. You can also save yourself from death if you bomb just as you get hit. It's still a hard game, but it feels surprisingly fair.
Italian white bean stew, and pasta alla assassina. It's been an Italy-style week of cooking 🇮🇹
1cc #916: Captain Commando. Played for the 2026 Summer Yolympics - although my clear came a day too late to count for the tournament. A very fun, colorful and cartoonish game. Not so difficult once you know some of the tricks, like the throw loop on the final boss.

Getting a friend started writing postcards with an "Antifa supply kit" care package.
The forbidden TRIWICH. (This is a terrible idea for sandwich innards that can fall out easily. But it worked fine here for hummus with a bit of pickled red onion. Could also work for a PBJ)
Two dogs eagerly waiting for "mom" to get home and give them a couple of pieces of kibble.
Clafoutis! The word looks like a body part Republicans aren't allowed to know about. It's a kind of crustless cherry tart. It's really quite good. Especially with sliced almonds and powdered sugar.
1cc #915: Wai Wai Jockey Gate-In! More Yolympics. Make your jumps, whip the horse every ~50m starting at the right point in the race, and above all, hope for good RNG. Will I get good acceleration when I whip my horse? I hope so! Will I get bumped and knocked over? I hope not!
San Diego Saturday morning gathering. We got a lot of honks. I brought souvenir salt water taffy from Salt Lake City and it went over well. (I like the blue flavor. It tastes..blue!)
Saturday gathering in San Diego - a protest, and a memorial to those murdered by ICE. Eight posters of names and faces.
My pale friend from Mexico had a lottery payout in Korea -- but only the smallest possible. That is to say: when wan Juan won, Juan won one won.
TODAY: The House is expected to vote on the NDAA, which has a provision that would deepen US-Israeli military entanglement and insulate the Netanyahu government from accountability. Email your representative and demand they reject right-wing plans to hand over any part of our military to Netanyahu.
Tell Your Members of Congress: Reject the Trump-Netanyahu Military Partnership
Every year, Congress passes the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a massive defense bill considered a “must-pass” piece of legislation. Because it moves every year, lawmakers frequently try t...

Why are you so excited about exploring these rocks, Lucy? [Spoiler alert: because someone dropped part of a cookie over there]
A couple of photos from taking action this summer - canvassing in CA-48, and writing postcards to get out the vote. Feels great to take action together!
1cc #914: World Rally 2: Twin Racing. Another Summer Yolympics clear. A shockingly difficult game, much harder than the first World Rally. The car physics is a bit jank - sometimes you can bounce your way through a tight turn, sometimes the road gets angry and murders you.
Vegan sushi bake. This used up all the rice vinegar and Sriracha left in the cupboard. It's pretty good! Has some poke bowl vibes.
Signs and bumber stickers. We talked about getting a series of signs that say "Your vote counts, David!" or "Your vote counts, Lisa!" Could be pretty effective for any Lisas or Davids who happen to pass by.
Something I don't think I've shared here - the arcade 1cc spreadsheet: docs.google.com/spreadsheets... This captures my arcade 1-credit clears, and I've also tried to capture info about the whole universe of potential arcade 1ccs, including links (mostly to YouTube or MARP) of reference runs.

I went out and canvassed in Vista today. About a gallon of sweat later, I can confirm people are angry about the cost of living, ICE chaos, and health care access (not necessarily in that order). Excited to flip the new, post-prop-50 CA-48 district from red to blue with @marnivonwilpert.bsky.social!
