My five year old has discovered my giant omnibus of New Yorker cartoons and insists I explain the jokes to her, which is like doing a round of Expert Panel with @davidmalki.com but with an aggressive countdown timer and a bucket of Nickelodeon slime wobbling over my head

Sure it’s great to have resources that delineate the unique calls and songs various birds make in the wild, but what’s still lacking is a formal classification of the embarrassingly specific sound effects I make in response to spotting them

I'm going to be at the library in Willamina, OR today for Free Comic Book Day from 12-4! I'll have my new risograph minicomic CEMETERY + a table of supplies so you can make your own minicomic/zine with just one piece of paper, and showing off how I make my lil hand-carved stamp art/linocut prints.

Wild that people keep writing novels with the plot “married professor has disastrous but richly observed affair with student,” or “rich friends reunite in middle age after inciting event uncovers [manslaughter??].” I can’t imagine the chutzpah it takes to submit that manuscript in 2025

🧵I’m female and have a name which is traditionally used for boys and girls, but in the US is usually read as masculine. I was constantly assigned to boys’ cabins at summer camp, a male roommate in college, had to find subtle ways to slip third person references to myself in e-mails, etc.
