From what I've seen of FSU's communications to their members and supporters, they are tilting at windmills. They imagine an intention and operation that simply isn't real. Franks and Douglas Brown have publicly described aspects of the organisation, and what it does, that are totally fictional.

'[FSU] chairperson Stephen Franks said its supporters had an opportunity to “vote against wokester rule” and suggested InternetNZ was charging more than it needed for “.nz” registrations while “siphoning off revenue to matey cause groups in Wellington”. (paywalled) #NzPol

The paperback of Invisible Rulers is out today! To celebrate I dropped audio of the Twitter Space where Mike Benz first groomed Matt Taibbi into believing there'd been "mass censorship" of "hundreds of millions of tweets"—something he'd then testify before Congress. open.substack.com/pub/agentsof...

Another in the ongoing series titled "Dylan rants about bullshit advertising to innocent journalists who just asked simple questions" You wouldn't know from the quotes in the piece, but I vented dishonestly use of the language of data in advertising for like 20 minutes to @kiwifarah.bsky.social

ACT's 'visually misleading' post: Is it a graphic or a graph?

An ACT Party post about the gap between new medicines funded in Australia and New Zealand is "visually misleading," according to a statistics professor.

Been eyeing up a new laptop, given mine is like 8 or 9 years old now. The Macbook Neo looks compelling in many ways, but 8GB of RAM (in my price bracket) is unappealing. Also, I loath MacOS. So probably not that, I guess.

"The level of dopamine I've been getting from interacting with LLMs is not healthy for me" is such an amazing admission, because it really succinctly gets to a lot of what underpins people's relationship with LLMs. Having an instant conversation partner for *anything* is very mentally satisfying.

Luxon's "I was out there building a kick-arse business" just galls me so much. Bro you were employed by a couple of gigantic inefficient enterprises. You did not build a pie shop or a landscaping business. You did not build a tech startup.

"DOJ said they 'first became aware of information showing that the damage was the result of a botched installation and not vandalism' after reviewing more documents" This case seems to be the most extreme example of the US administration acting to cover for Trump's ridiculous lies.

Trump administration drops Reflecting Pool case, blaming damage on ‘botched’ installation

The Justice Department said “it is difficult to attribute the widespread damage to the Reflecting Pool to vandalism, let alone to establish that fact beyond a reasonable doubt.”

I happened across someone selling a Bitcoin mining setup on TradeMe and was vaguely curious about what the expected return on that sort of thing was... I have no idea if the AI estimate is right and no intention to dig deeper, but this was fairly amusing.

AI summary result for search of specific Bitcoin mining computer:

A 184 TH/s Bitcoin miner (such as the Bitmain Antminer S19 Pro Hyd) currently yields a net loss of about $-3.14 per day assuming an average electricity cost of $0.07 per kWh.

Daily Breakdown
Estimated Revenue: ~$5.98 per day in mined Bitcoin
Electricity Cost: ~$9.12 per day
Net Daily Profit: ~$-3.14 per day

Projected Returns
Monthly: ~$-94.20
Yearly: ~$-1,146.10

Note: Actual profitability changes constantly based on the live price of Bitcoin, network mining difficulty, and your specific local electricity rates.

If you'd like to adjust these numbers, tell me:
Your exact electricity rate (per kWh)
Whether you have free or subsidised cooling/hosting

I keep seeing these videos of Ukrainian drone strikes deep inside Russia and can't help but wonder if/when they'll take a shot at the Kremlin? I assume it's better defended than a logistics warehouse or refinery, but still you'd think they'd stand a reasonable chance.

Drones hit Zelenodolsk in Tatarstan overnight. Smoke rose over a Wildberries logistics center and another drone landed near an OZON warehouse.

This is crazy. It looks like getbadge[dot]info has been doing this for close to two weeks, and it's still going. The site is still up, impersonating @bsky.app and it's still able to takeover accounts and send these DMs to people.

Hey, @bsky.app... why not STOP hacking users accounts and having them DM people about a stupid BADGE thing? Huh? HMMM? Just post it on the main timeline for all to see. Don't stoop to this fucking level. Jebus. TWO of these, in two days. Don't do this crap.
