anyway, always keep in mind your posts about some series you love that you refuse to financially support for whatever moral reason could lead to A Person Like Me who doesn’t have those objections and wants to support my favorite works finding out that title and giving it money.
The massive asset value of fandom is part of why Japanese IP holders foster it so much/doujin culture is allowed to flourish, I’m not under the illusion it’s all charitable. It’s also why it’s dumb western holders have a history of cracking down on it, shooting themselves in the foot.
Honestly if you find something objectionable enough to not want to buy it because you sincerely believe it to be harmful, you should consider whether you want to keep engaging with/posting it, as fandom engagement is an asset to promoting a series and bringing it continued sales and relevance.
I love being in a place where i can financially support my favorite titles by buying official releases and merchandise. This is a bit funny given one of my favorites is a series many people are very vocal about consuming but not financially supporting due to moral objections 😅
people getting arrested over fictional things that do not harm real people should be terrifying no matter how little you like said fictional things. causing disgust is not a crime
I can’t physically keep taking hour-plus train rides every time I want to meet with ppl, it’s so exhausting. I think from now on unless it’s for some genuinely specific-to-that-location thing I’ll put my foot down and go to fewer things that are far away.
