I got the best rejection of my life from a small press for my novella. Nothing but praise and assurances that it’s a great book, wrong press. I wish I had rejections like that every time! But it’s put me in a tough spot. (1/2)

If you submit three poems to a magazine, is each one a separate submission? Or, are they collectively counted as one submission?

My cat likes my new sleeping pad for bikepacking. I have a Durston tent and poles on order to replace the Amazon tent I’ve been using. I justify these purchases by telling myself that if I ever have to bug out, I will be comfortable.
I got my commissioned world map for Perceiver yesterday and it looks so good! Much thanks to sianellisillustration.co.uk for creating such a lovely piece.

Have six stories pending in the slush pile, a fantasy map commission heading to the second round, seeking an editor for my sequel still, and grinding away on drafts of two novellas. My biggest hope is that all the short stories and novellas find their home this year
On average, the stories I accept have amassed 6 rejections before they're submitted to FF. (A surprising (to me) number of these were sent to FF as their first or second stop, which I appreciate, but chase that big money, folks!) Lines up pretty close to the average in the Grinder's thread! 2/
this country’s gotten very few things right but public libraries are one of them
In honor of the 4th of July, I’m going to take a minute to talk about how I found and participated in my first protest. It’s probably not the best way to do it, but it did work over and over and over again. 🧵

I’m going on vacation. I should buy some books. It’s my niece’s first birthday. I should buy her some books… and get some for me. I’m passing through a city on my way to vacation for lunch. I should visit the bookstore. I’m on vacation. I should visit this bookstore. There’s another bookstore—
Years ago, I referenced the #SPAMMuseum in the first short story I wrote that was accepted to a lit mag. tulsaccreview.com/calling-all-... On Thurs, I finally visited.
I’m also proud to announce that I have finally handbuilt a food safe and functional mug.
I’m relieved to announce that I have finally wrapped up the ninth draft of my sequel and sent the manuscript off to my editor. I think I could keep chipping away at things to improve, but I feel like I’ve taken it as far as I can go on my own and need a fresh set of eyes on it.
Today was the final day of the #TulsaLitFest. I’m amazed by how many awesome poets and writers and artists are in Tulsa, and I’m feeling energized and ready to dive back into my own work.
When I was a freshman in college, my friend’s grandparents took me and her to a Turkish restaurant and then the Chicago opera. The Turkish restaurant served the best Turkish coffee and baba ganoush.
I don't want to hear about your lost loves, tell me about the restaurant food that haunts you because you'll never be able to taste it again
I bought some vintage dishware to make slip casts of their bodies, make approximations of how much clay to use while hand building, and also have an idea of how large the copied forms should be. Breaking out the high school geometry notes to measure radius, height, and angle 📐 #pottery #handbuilding
Wooo! Congrats Ryan!
Fun fact: fortnight (as in two weeks, not the video game) is the words "fourteen" and "nights" smushed together. Used in a sentence, it looks like this: Say Uncle is officially out in the world in a fortnight! ghoulish.rip/product/say-...
Oh, to be a cat, lying in sunlight, not knowing that in 30 min she’s going to get two vaccinations and her butthole shaved.
Went to a group ride on Saturday expecting to do 25-28 miles, and didn’t want to crash out. Could not figure out where else to put it, and it didn’t fit in my stem bag. #cycling
