Finding himself the toast of Broadway again after a long string of failures, he took out a self-deprecating ad in the January 5, 1944 issue of Variety listing his flops. An absolute legend.

Doing the work doesn't feel like enough, some days.

Mussolini passed draconian controls over pasta production which he considered decadent and overly reliant on foreign grain. Today, we celebrate his fall with a simple, defiant partisan dish: 1) Pasta 2) Creamy butter 3) Parmesan
Hard to find a stronger example of “fascists hate the actually existing glory of the countries they pretend to love” than “Mussolini fucked with pasta.”
