www.astronomyedinburgh.org/event/partia... We'll be holding an event on Calton Hill to view the partial solar eclipse on 12th August. We'll have some solar telescopes with us and lots of eclipse glasses so that people can view the eclipse safely. Remember THE SUN IS DANGEROUS TO OBSERVE.

👀 Not for the first time, the Figgate Burn in Portobello ran bright green yesterday. Thanks to a kind Minute subscriber for sharing the photo. I asked around and discovered it’s a widely used dye testing process, which uses luminous tracer dye (often green) to check drainage system connections.

🔥 Monday 2pm Edinburgh fire update: Fire on the Crags has started up again. This video was kindly shared by a Minute subscriber, who says firefighters appear to be focussing on stopping it from spreading over to Arthur’s Seat. Footage corroborated and verified.

11.30pm update: The sky over Edinburgh is lit up by flames as fire burns on the Salisbury Crags. It’s been burning since 6.30pm. Thanks to Minute reader Kathryn for sharing this. There will be a 7am update in Monday’s free newsletter. Stay safe folks.
