Last week, we were delighted to welcome Annie, a S5 pupil at George Heriot's School Edinburgh, in our office as part of her school's work experience week. Annie was really keen to learn about EWH's Climate Emergency Strategy and approach to lowering emissions in the historic environment. (1/4)

Yann & Gary from the Climate Emergency team joined #FuturHist partners in Linköping for our 6th project meeting In Linköping, we shared progress, planned next steps & geared up for the #FuturHist Summer Academy in Kraków this September 1/3

They embarked on this project as the stone had fallen over and become illegible, so very few people realised that the Scott family plot was here. Walter Scott was an Elder at Greyfriars Kirk and the whole family (including Sir Walter Scott) were members of the congregation here for many years. 2/2

Congratulations to the Friends of Greyfriars Kirkyard for today's wonderful stone repair. They are delighted to report that the memorial for Walter Scott (Father of Sir Walter Scott) and several members of the same family has been restored and remounted in the Kirkyard today. 1/2

Yesterday we welcomed the National Lottery Heritage Fund’s Scotland Team for a tour of Greyfriars Kirkyard – including a peak into the Covenanter’s Prison!

Project complete! Fire-damaged Elephant House cafe and neighbouring shop have been freshly restored with the support of EWH’s Shopfront Repair Grant. Works to both shopfronts included woodwork, glazing, paintwork, awnings and signage - all completed using traditional materials.
