This line from Ross Douthat’s final NYT column is something you see all the time from the soft-MAGA right. Sure, Trump’s *most* alarmist critics weren’t correct, but that’s basically true of every president. Trump’s *median* critic did in fact predict his presidency pretty accurately.

As the people who insist otherwise try to burn the country, it's important to affirm that immigrants, from everywhere, are awesome, and America is better the more immigrants we have. You have to be just empty and vapid and unimaginably small to reject that.
I can’t think of anyone more influential to my worldview than Gab. Gab played a major role in my journey to becoming a market anarchist. Their group chat about mutualism was ultimately what shifted me away from communism. I don’t think I would be the person I am today without them.
