First, Latife Kınay-Kılıç, Ersel Aydınlı and @efetokdemir.bsky.social investigate how states respond to external support for rebel groups during civil wars, finding that strategic rivalry drives the most severe responses.

My advisees Özge Karban and Deniz Özdemir have successfully defended their MA theses during the Summer 2025. Özge will pursue her PhD at PennState, and Deniz will do at Binghamton University Keep an eye on them in the upcoming years - two great scholars in the making Congratulations!

Based on a nationwide survey in Türkiye, we demonstrate how exposure to violence resulting from conflict conditions (i.e., involvement) and perceptions of state efficacy in security provision (i.e., blame attribution) shape trust in legacy vs. social media.

Our coauthored article with Seden Akçınaroğlu and @efetokdemir.bsky.social is published online first in Media, War & Conflict. We explore the impact of exposure to conflict-related violence on trust in different media types regarding conflict-related information and news. @mwcjournal.bsky.social
