About Trump v. Barbara: Do not give the Court and the CJ credit for reading and upholding the Constitution. It's a travesty that this is not a unanimous decision... it's also a travesty that the Court let this question percolate for a year, giving credence to a crank theory of citizenship.

This cartoon isn't an exaggeration—not even 1% an exaggeration. Weeks ago it seemed this far-right Supreme Court would still block any map intentionally authored to be racist. We just learned that that's no longer true. We have reentered Jim Crow, and it's a national disgrace.

Saw a job posting on a listserv today. A 4/4 teaching load. PhD required. Starting salary range 30,355 - 46,555. Like sorry. That’s insulting. (No offense to the person who posted the ad—I’m sure you have no say in the salary.)

I know it’s a bit early but… as people start planning their @apsa.bsky.social travel for Boston, I will be organizing an LGBTQ meet up on Wednesday (probably late happy hour time?) for folks who get in early and want to meet up before the conference gets going. All welcome, especially new people.

I’ve decided I should start keeping track of all my houseplants. I think I’m over 100 now but I haven’t counted in a while. Anyway, here are a few pictures. Slowly going to photograph all of them.

A picture of a variegated peperomia. Picture of a monstera adonsonii in a blue pot. Picture of an oxalis in a pit shaped like an elephant. Picture of a tradescantia nanouk.

Seeing all the blizzard pictures from back home in Boston & Providence… y’all stay safe. And come visit Idaho. It’s a lovely 54 degrees in Pocatello right now. I’m actually regretting wearing a sweater, even if it is cute.

My lil puppy has a minor injury that requires him to basically move as little as possible for 3 weeks. My 10 month old, black lab puppy. The one who has never rested once in his life. Thank god for puppy sedatives.
