Saturday morning with the Washington State Labor Council COPE Endorsing Convention. Labor is a part of my family history. It's not just a campaign issue. Walking the hall this morning, I found this on display - a wage schedule negotiated by my Grandfather for the members of IAM 751.

73% of mothers with kids under 18 are in the workforce. More than flowers or brunch, working moms need: -Paid family leave -Equal pay -Universal childcare -Universal healthcare (But get your mom flowers, too)

By letting the ACA tax credit expire, Republicans drove up premiums for families and forced them to choose between paying their bills or seeing a doctor. That’s not leadership. It’s cruelty.

WA is one the wealthiest states in the country, but guess who’s actually paying the most? Low-and middle-income folks pay a bigger share of their income in taxes, all while the ultra-wealthy pay less.

The majority of Washington school districts are small school districts, exactly the kind of districts that would be hurt by bringing school vouchers to our state. I'm running to support a public education system that serves all our students, whatever their zip code.

This morning I attended a legislative town hall hosted by the 25th District legislative delegation. When asked about persistent state underfunding of public education, my opponent's answer was the federal tax credits promised by HR1. HR1 hurts public education in 2 ways.

Thank you, Junior. History matters. Last night, a student spoke of how much her AP African American Studies class means to her and her classmates. Today, all of MLB celebrates Jackie Robinson's legacy. His story means more when you understand the context. Diversity, equity, and inclusion matter.

I was going to try and write something up about this, but time had other ideas, so here’s a little thread about how Ken Griffey Jr helped shape Jackie Robinson Day and why it matters.
