A really good morning. Work up to an email asking for help to upgrade a home to solar, battery and electric heating! Space is a real premium so ASHP might not be practical. But that’s okay, there are alternatives….

One goal. One objective. One mission. Embrace the home energy revolution to drive down energy bills, motoring costs and pollution www.electrifymyhome.co.uk www.youtube.com/@electrify_my_home
So there I was sitting in rush hour traffic when my Tom Tom routed me down a different road to normal. I was astonished to see so many houses with rooftop solar ☀️ House after house after house I went back the next day for a closer look 👀 www.electrifymyhome.co.uk/post/life-un...
I saw so many solar panels, I went back for a closer look!
A traffic diversion led me to an unexpected discovery: 42 homes with solar panels in a five-minute walk. A glimpse of the future of rooftop solar?

Did you know 195,000 homes in the UK added solar panels over the last year? No me neither! That's the equivalent of 1 every 3 minutes. Someone's been busy! To find out more, please watch this short video! www.electrifymyhome.co.uk/post/195000-...
UK Solar Installations: One Home Every 3 Minutes
I knew the UK was embracing solar panels because I can see them appearing on homes all around me. What I didn't realise was that over the last year enough homes aded solar to average one every three...

I remain in awe of how the likes of @tillathenun.bsky.social can edit such long videos to such a high quality! My next one is all of 60seconds long. It’s taken a *lot* longer to put together! #amateur_Dave
The months fly by don't they?? Here's my look into the energy we used in August which included enough to drive 2,000 miles in our EVs, plus run the air conditioning more or less non-stop, for the princely sum of just £43. www.electrifymyhome.co.uk/post/our-aug... #petrolisexpensive
Our August energy use
Our air conditioning worked hard again in August, and we drove 2,000 odd miles in our EVs too. Yet, with a combination of our solar generation and cheap, off-peak electricity, our electricity cost jus...

Back in May, this family installed solar & a battery, courtesy of the #warmhomesgrant It was a very sunny summer, but even so the results are remarkable. They've cut their costs by 87% and saved £150 You can find out more in this video! #warmhomesgrant #solarandbattery youtu.be/KHvqlSueUuQ
£58.55 a month to £3.74 - how solar and a battery reduced this household's electricity bill

I've been looking at our energy data 🤓 Our fridge freezer uses 30kWh a month, 360kWh pa. Cost £25ish That’s enough electricity to drive an EV 1,250 miles Or the same power as driving from Kent to Scotland & back🏎️ Everyday energy suddenly feels a lot more interesting when you look at it this way
Really fabulous day at the #hyundaiNFestival at Brands Hatch. Weather awful, but it didn’t stop it being great fun. Drove a 6N on track - too wet to really learn much. GoKarted in the rain on slicks which was awesome fun. So sideways!
A client’s fixed gas tariff has just ended The new rate? 52% higher. Shopping around didn't help. A quick look at what’s happening to gas prices in a real home just down the road from me, and a comparison to electricity costs over the same period www.electrifymyhome.co.uk/post/real-wo...
Gas Prices UK: A Real-World Example of a 52% Tariff Increase
A client’s fixed gas tariff has ended, with the replacement rate an eye-watering **52% higher**. We shopped around to see if we could do better – and compared the increase with what’s happened to elec...

Never ceases to amaze me - over the last 30 days, 31% (112kWh recuperation /363 total consumption) of the energy used to drive the car HAS ALREADY BEEN USED TO DRIVE THE CAR! As we slow down, the motors turn into generators with the electricity being stored in the battery to reuse. GENIUS!
Wow. What a week! Three new enquiries last week – and unusually, all three homeowners already had green home tech installed. Three very different systems. Three very different questions. 🧵 So, what did we find?
Exporting from our home battery to support the local grid. (We don’t get paid for doing so - long story).
I'm writing a report for a client who has two EVs, solar, ASHP for heating and air conditioning, but doesn't have a battery. They use a lot of electricity, and much of it at peak rate. Look how much lower their off peak is! Think how much they could save!
hey @speaktothegeek.co.uk - I use your wonderful HA blueprint to charge our Giv batteries when we get an extra IOG slot. I've just updated the HA Octopus thingy and saw this note - do I need to do anything? Thanks.
We drove over 3,250 miles in our EVs last month, and ran our fully electric home including the air conditioning for just £73. Here's our monthly energy breakdown. Also, I went to @thorpepark.bsky.social and took this photo! www.electrifymyhome.co.uk/post/dave-el...
Our June 2026 energy use
We paid just 4p/kWh for our electricity in June - a mix of free solar generation, overnight off peak and a smidgeon of peak rate (because I accidentally turned off the battery at one stage!) Total c...

I happen to know that’s a council house. With solar. And a heat pump. Not sure about a battery though. It’s the only house in this close with panels…. I imagine some are rented and some owner occupied. But the only one with solar is council owned. Well down Gravesham council I say!
@camerongray.me just watching your Alpha ESS video….
Over the last couple of months I've completed two long EV road trips. 📍Scotland – 1,709 miles. My Ioniq 6N ⚡547 kWh 💷£270 💰49p/kWh 📍Germany – 1,022 miles. Family Ioniq 5 ⚡377 kWh 💷£133 💰35p/kWh Both trips relied mainly on Ionity rapid chargers using the same Electroverse 40% discount.
I went on holiday last week, driving one of our EVs to some German theme parks. Much fun had Our other EV was sat at home. When we left it has 17% battery. Now it’s 80%. That’s about 150 miles range - 50 odd kWh - added is if by magic! (Or science). My petrol cars never did that…
In May, 95% of the energy used in our home came from our solar panels. We only spent £63 and that included driving 2,850 miles in the cars! Full video here - www.electrifymyhome.co.uk/post/our-may...
My latest video - you can now lease a home battery from as little as £35pm. Given they usually costs £1,000s to install, that's an attractive offer.... www.electrifymyhome.co.uk/post/a-batte...
We are lucky and privileged to enjoy the original FIT (feed in tariff) on some of our solar panels. We now get paid a frankly ridiculous 76.9p/kWh generated. That's £939 for the last quarter alone and £2,500 a year. Here's a video I created after the previous payment..... youtu.be/jp_WFTfyoT0
A milestone for Electrify My Home today A business plan goal was to engage a brand-new client not connected to my previous career I've just made that happen! A family with an existing solar and battery system would like me to check they are getting the best from it.
We’ve refilled our kitchen surface cleaner *again* using an Ocean Saver anti-bacterial tab. Just pop it in the reusable bottle, fill with water and off you go! #oceansaver
This video walks through how I helped this single mum with three kids, working two jobs, decrease their daily electricity bill by 95% to just 12p a day. www.electrifymyhome.co.uk/post/the-un-...
The (un)achievable dream
How we helped this family reduce their electricity bill to just 12p a day, courtesy of the Warm Homes: Local Grant
electrifymyhome.co.uk
A single mum with 3 kids is receiving around £30,000 of Warm Homes: Local Grant funded home improvements ⚡ New roofs, insulation, solar panels and a battery system. Cost to the family: £0 I helped her apply for the grant and negotiate more work than they originally planned. #WarmHomesGrant
Reducing outgoings can be just as powerful psychologically as increasing income Lower monthly direct debits simply feels better. Using a pension or ISA to effectively buy an income (by reducing outgoings) is a very powerful concept. The idea of an “energy pension” is a fascinating one.
