Almost every LLM that reaches a broad audience is quantized—compressed to run cheaply. USC's Emilio Ferrara argues this compression is treated as a safety nonevent, when it should be treated as a change to the deployed system. This has policy implications, he says.

The Model You Audit Is Not the Model You Ship

Almost every LLM that reaches a broad audience is quantized—with under-appreciated ramifications for AI safety, writes Emilio Ferrara.

4/6 “The ARC preconceptual design is the product of an awesome engineering and scientific team using state of the art tools and building on everything we’ve learned from constructing SPARC,” said Alex Creely, Chief Engineer of ARC Conceptual Design at CFS.

If Tron was real do you think the little computer guys would judge us. Probably, right? They'd have nothing to do but see our terrible code running. They'd watch a memory leak like "umm hello?"

One thing I miss about playing in a frisbee league with a draft that spans skill range from “never played before” to “literally pro” is 95% of the time you have an even matchup and the other 5% is evenly split between “holy shit I’m Captain America” and “I just got rolled so hard I can’t process it”

i think until you devote yourself to something athletic for years it's hard to get your head around how you can be better than 99.999% of the population at something and still every single college athlete is so much better than you that you practically can't even see them from here. let alone pros

So I’m looking again for somebody to make some video titles/overlays and build a (basic) design system for a project of mine. Not super large, maybe a dozen comps of reusable assets; it’s work that I can do but I have decision fatigue around it. Anybody have an experienced designer they’d recommend?

Using dragons in combat against people or other dragons is considered an unbreakable taboo. “Honor those the dragons heed // in thought and favor, word & deed // for worlds are lost or worlds are saved // from those dangers dragon-braved”

I know this would be closing the barn door after he horse has been reelected president, but if Democrats win both chambers I'd really like to see a concurrent resolution deeming January 6 an insurrection under 14(3). 1/

Go ahead and bury configuration and stuff thirteen menus down on a touchscreen — sure, fine, whatever, it sucks but it’s not actively dangerous. Climate? GTFOH with this bullshit. And no, I don’t want to have to understand what some German engineer thinks makes sense just to turn the heat up!

Woke up from a dream about team offsite planning that culminated in me wearing red power armor(?) flying down the hallway of a log-built corporate retreat lodge singing Disney tunes at full volume(??) to take advantage of the good reverb (???)
