Suppose you could go back and supply the Beatles with modern music-making tools. Would they have been better, or worse? I say worse. Adversity both promotes creativity and inadvertently provides structure. They would have had the potential for more, but I don't think they would have achieved it.

Hey anyone, can you help me with this. In the 90s, Ben Stiller had two shows; one was on Fox and is relatively well-known, but the other was on MTV and nobody seems to remember it. But on his MTV show, he once did a bit where he played Bono as James T Kirk. Anyone know where I could find that?

A pollster called me tonight. A few questions in I started to think it was a robot, so I asked point-blank whether it was a robot. She denied it, so I gave her the Voight-Kampff test ("you see a turtle") and she failed it. Nevertheless I allowed her to persist. 1/2

This quote by James Baldwin is astute, only I think he was having trouble finding the words to express how deep the phenomenon runs. If you encounter something that is wholly incompatible with your self-image or worldview, your emotional response will be to want to kill it with fire.

PSA: never root your ego in how much you know; if you do, not knowing something or being wrong becomes a crisis of self-image. If you must root your ego in your intellect, make it about how you're always willing to learn. Then being wrong isn't a problem because you are happy to learn.

I haven't seen it anywhere today, so I guess ill bring it up. It was 10 years ago today that Baltimore police murdered 23yr old Korryn Gaines and also shot her young son, who survived. Names like Korryn Gaines are why the #SayHerName movement began, as Black women's names are often forgotten
