So far, my experience with the copyeditors of a well-known publisher has been: I get: wrongly altered sentences, missing footnotes, hours wasted in revising someone else's errors, BUT They changed most "e.g." to "for instance" and "etc." to "and soon" (sic!)

Yes, this is the annoying part with gen-AI in general (it created so much additional work for us teachers).

Meta shipped glasses built to record the people around the wearer, then left teachers to sort out the consent it skipped. The kids most captured by the device got the least say in it being there. Meta offloaded its consent problem onto the classroom.

Kevin J. Kircher@kevinjkircher.com · 4w agoWhen I was an undergrad researcher, a prof told me he considers someone a scientist only when they've "produced more science than they've consumed." At the time, I didn't realize this is an insane view, nigh unquantifiable, and (if quantified) almost surely a criterion that prof fails to this day.
