A lot of people don’t realize the dust bowl wasn’t a natural phenomenon. It happened when agrobusiness interests dramatically transformed the plains without regard for drought, and created vicious dust storms that choked whole families to death. That’s what I think of when I read about data centers.
The best way to get to the bottom of the McConnell question is for the governor to appoint a replacement. The GOP legislature passed a law stripping him of that power, but it goes against the state constitution. If they refuse to seat the replacement, take them to court. There’s zero downside.
Booker: Do you all know that they were constantly chipping away? I was told we would have 13 minutes for questioning. Then they brought it down to 10. Ten minutes of questioning for the confirmation of the highest law enforcement official in the land has never been done before.
The horrific behaviors I wrote about 2 years ago have not only continued but also worsened in scale and frequency. And yet, I recently spent 3 weeks in Germany, meeting with people from many backgrounds, all of us searching for positive ways forward. How can we do better? www.cnn.com/2024/07/13/o...

Whitmire joins push for independent probe of Salgado shooting by ICE
Whitmire's announcement comes two days after he said there would be no city-directed probe of the deadly shooting.

After a months-long occupation, Minnesota is still recovering from a retribution campaign waged by the federal government. Now, Minnesota stands with Houston in demanding accountability for the fatal shooting of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo. This bloodshed cannot be normalized.
Lorenzo Salgado Araujo. Say his name. Learn his story. Demand an independent investigation. And justice.
ICE claims that Araujo drove into one of their SUVs with his van and then tried to run over an agent. There were no marks on the van and KHOU11's Jeremy Rogalski found surveillance footage showing ICE chasing Araujo and cutting him off. Renee Good all over again.
Screenshot from the website for that “women only” retreat center in Corsica and if you don’t get Handmaid’s Tale vibes then you’re not seeing what I’m seeing. Hint: “Mary in the Quran” isn’t my biggest concern.
Paxton warned Texans not to lie about their address to vote. Then voted six times from an address he'd already moved out of. Somebody call the tip line on the guy who runs the tip line.
Marco Rubio is against birthright citizenship. But Marco Rubio *is* a birthright citizen. Ted Cruz is against birthright citizenship. But Ted Cruz was born in Canada. He only got US citizenship by a birthright citizenship law because of his US mother. They are both shameless hypocrites.

Is it not clear now that reforming the Supreme Court must be at the top of the agenda along with accountability?
