I have, with my own eyes, watched my tax dollars in the form of missiles as they hit buildings inhabited by civilians. I'd much prefer subsidizing a grocery story I don't use.

the thing that scares the middle and right so much about DSA is that they don't believe in oligarchy. the idea that the richest have not earned the right to govern the rest of us is the thing that makes them furious.

This has been an issue in tech for so long that the failure to correct it is really telling about the industry’s inherent lack of capacity for introspection. It selects for and rewards antisociality and then wonders why people don’t like and trust it.

It is genuinely heartbreaking to see all of the people losing SNAP benefits. In West Virginia, 14,000 SNAP participants have lost their benefits. In Arizona, it’s 500,000. That’s not a typo. Half a million people in AZ no longer have nutrition assistance. Republicans strike again.
