What a satisfying conclusion to my movie marathon
Surprise: it's a double feature tonight I'm watching Frequency (2000) because I can't get enough of old sci fi movies

Incredibly satisfying ending Every time travel story has enormous plot holes because of the time travel (except MAYBE Primer), but this movie still makes sense on an emotional and narrative level even though it's still a huge mindfuck when you think about it

Well fuck If this ain't a darkest hour I don't know what is

I love how they did an inversion of "the villain fucks up and gets their plans either destroyed or hindered because they stopped to gloat" where the hero fucks up by stopping to gloat This movie is soooo good

Aaaaand the seamless genre transition is seamless Much bigger genre transition than Frailty, too, given that it was a tone shift as well as a plot twist

Goddamn the cutting back and forth between 1969 and 1999 is incredible Especially the pivotal moments when the timeline changes Time travel always introduces plot holes, but the sense of simultaneousness really helps you overlook them (and come up with your own explanations!)

This is rather obvious given the themes of the movie, but there's a lot of religious abuse I think if everything the Meiks family believed is actually true, that just makes their situation all the more horrifying even if it is more meaningful
Watching Frailty (2001) tonight I chose it specifically because it's not like any of the other movies I watched over the past 7 days
Hold up - what if the FBI agent is a demon, but Fenton is an unreliable narrator. He's been pretending he didn't believe the stuff his father and brother believed as a way to lure the FBI agent out to someplace where he (and potentially his secretly still-alive father or brother) can take him out?
If the FBI agent is a demon, that'd make a lot of sense, since I noticed Fenton never physically touched him - at least, he hasn't since I learned about this plot device.
Let me guess the twist: the visions from god that Fenton's dad received aren't hallucinations or signs of sanity slippage likevthe story initially implies, and the demons are actually very likely to be real In addition, either Fenton or the FBI agent is actually a demon

A lot of things don't make sense yet, but I think that's because they're being set up for later I can definitely see the direction this is all going though

I need a morally dubious sexy nurse or lady doctor to perform medical malpractice of a sexual nature on me while treating me and doting on me for being a good girl
All gender-affirming care procedures should be available for free at the point of service as part of a broader universal healthcare program and should not require a diagnosis of gender dysphoria

I REALLY want to get an important women’s health appointment. I’ve been putting it off but i desperately need to get on an IUD. I’m so fucking tired of horrific pain and migraines clustered around my period. So…. Is there any way this could be funded?

Recently, critical comments about LGBT people every day make me very sad. LGBT people just want to love whom they love and live proudly as themselves—why treat that as a demand? Living as a human is a right and shouldn’t be restricted by male and female genders🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈
This is a main selling point of "AI" hucksters, as in Zuckerberg's recent wackadoodle manifesto: the extolment of arbitrary "efficiency" above all else, including but not limited to actual enjoyment of the things that make up a life. A reading list is something to be "plowed through". Get it done!
Axios writer: I melted my brain with AI. Not only can I no longer read, but I don't even understand the purpose of reading anymore. Here's how you can also do this. www.axios.com/2026/08/11/r...
I don't get why so many ML types will acknowledge that the Irish Starvation was a horrific atrocity carried out by the British government, but will try and make excuses for the Holodomor They're remarkably similar historical events
Is she this stupid intentionally or does it just come naturally to her?
Remnick: So we shouldn't send weapons to Ukraine? DSA co-chair Megan Romer: No! Remnick: So, just allow Russia to overrun Ukraine entirely? Romer: We should be sending huge teams of diplomats. We should figure out how to negotiate.w
