“She liked time at the edges of things—the edge of the crowd, the edge of the pool, the edge of the wood—where all must pass, but none quite belonged.” It’s time! I’m finally starting Nicola Griffith’s Hild.

Hello my lovelies! Still at $450/$600 to cover bills for Aug. Only $150 to go! Also still have a few items on my list I need. Disabled queer trans artist trying to survive. This evening’s depression victory: Contributed my own thoughts (briefly) to two separate conversations, sharing about my opinions and values instead of believing all I had to offer was either: (1) nothing or: (2) support. Sometimes believing one deserves to be dimensionally present is hard work.

Gin’s got two kids at home, and has been clawing her way forward into finally having a job again after multiple layoffs. Illness + no banked PTO contributed to an overdraft that’s threatening the family’s safety. Please help if you can.

Good morning! $194 clears the negative balance! I missed work unpaid due to illness and I'm really hoping we can get out of the hole here before it buries me. Thank you for helping! Cashapp/Venmo: showupforthis

Rent’s covered!!! Thank you all so, so much for the aid, the post shares, and the encouragement. I don’t know how much longer I’ll be waitlisted for additional healthcare (I’m calling back this week to check again), but in the meantime, I’m doing all I can. Because of you, it adds up to enough. 💜

Now only $142 left to cover Aug. rent & July back rent; thank you! I’m a disabled freelancer who’s been really struggling, w/ excessive summer heat & strong storms exacerbating some of my health problems. Anything helps; please share widely. Cashapp/Venmo: Elsthere

Really disturbing migraine dreams but I woke up & remembered Bsky exists. Squinting my way through (in dark mode, oc) to say hi. You’re collectively a grounding influence and I wish you all peaceful rest next time you need some.

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

A friend has informed me they've acquired A Bloomy Head after hearing me gush about it. Fitting, as I read it due to another friend's enthusiasm. My recommendation below stands:

The book is A Bloomy Head (by @sjgochenour.bsky.social , writing as J. Winifred Butterworth). You might not think you need a novel about veterans & rural cheesemakers in Regency England, but between the multiple decapitations, queer romance, and opinionated cows, there’s something for everyone.

I haven’t read the talking animal–centric Redwall books but I now intend to fix that. And this thread, from an architectural historian who has Seriously Thought About Things, breaks down the size, probable Earth location, and time where the books are likely centered. It is what the internet is for.

Happy Friday everyone, as promised, here is my personal theory on this. I think Redwall takes place in our world, after an apocalyptic event of the nuclear variety caused rapid but varied growth of all animals, including humans, leading to our extinction and their mental development. Okay? 🧵

Stayed up cooking everything for the lentil & roasted root veggie salad that was supposed to feed me for the better part of a week. Opened the bagged kale that was well within its use-by date. —So many of the shredded pieces have begun getting slimy that there’s not enough good to pick out.
