I'm sitting on the patio at a neighborhood bar, and I can see the TVs through the window. Baseball is on one (expected), Mr. Bean specials have been playing on the other (a delightful surprise!)

Just watched a 15 minute compilation of vines and started sobbing with laughter near the end. Unsure if I'm just overwhelmed with the silliness and joy, or if I'm grieving what the internet once was.

Channeling the worst traits of my highschool self and staying up until 2am reading a book. I have one day left on this library hold, and 20% of it still to go (about 140 pages).

It's a rare and wonderful feeling when a client and their stakeholders actually choose the option you hope they'll choose! They didn't even ask to Frankenstein it this time!

Sam Neill has always held a special place in my heart, and I'm saddened by the news of his passing. Jurassic Park came out when I was 8. I begged my dad to let me see it but he was worried I would be scared. He saw it first and I made him tell me everything that happened in it.

Farewell to singular cinema legend Sam Neill. The dynamic, soft-spoken intensity of his work remains unmatched over a five-decade career. His vast contributions to horror and science fiction will live forever, as will his memory in our hearts. Fango sends our condolences to his loved ones and fans.

Sometimes a book feels personal, and sometimes it feels like a mirror showing you a scene from your past. Like Ash and Sloane, I was an animation obsessed kid who wanted so badly to work for one of the prestigious studios. I even attended an animation for teens summer program at Sheridan College!

A book on a shelf leaning against other books by the same author. The cover features a drawing of two girls laying on the floor. One is drawing, and the other is looking up at a spiral bound book she's holding above her. The floor is covered in sheets of paper with drawings of little creatures coming off the pages as if they're being brought to life. Title: Inbetweens. Secondary text: Two artists. One dream. No idea what comes next. Author: Faith Erin Hicks

This morning I packed up all of the product and shipping supplies from the Etsy shop I closed last year. Shortly after I realized the heavy feeling in my chest was a bit of grief.

Time for a profile refresh! If you've only seen my illustrated face, here's the real me! Shout out to the talented @kanoki.net for welding his editing magic and making this silly selfie shine (you should hit him up too!)

A selfie of Elyse. She is wearing a flat brimmed ball cap with a Comic Con patch on the front and candy corn dangly earrings. She has worn black lipstick on. And is making a playful, happy expression.

Holy heck, I loved Horns! (Only been waiting a decade to finally watch it). It's up there with other quirky Radcliffe films I've enjoyed including Guns Akimbo and Swiss Army Man.

Tuning into Figma Config this afternoon. Vicki Tan's talk about developing her book is really charming and feels so human amongst all of the talk of agents and generative design.

I've been noticing eye floaties a bit more often lately. A rather dark one crossed my field of vision while reading this afternoon. I was mildly concerned about its size until I realized it was actually a clover mite crawling on my glasses.

A true loss. I struggle to find the right words to communicate the importance of Persepolis and her other works in sharing the human experience of Iranian people, especially women, and introducing the graphic novel as a rich form of literature to many for their first time.

Urban Sketching in Scotland: Glasgow Necropolis. I loved this beautiful Victorian cemetery. It was full of fascinating monuments, and boasted a fantastic view of the city, and the Glasgow Cathedral.

I've been home from my trip for about a month now, so it's about time I add some colour washes to my travel sketches. The downside of a travel sketchbook is having to wait for one spread to dry before painting the next.
