I tell customers this ALL THE TIME. People will ask me for a "digital proof" and I'm like "if I do that I would be in some cases *literally* just... sending you back the file you sent me. If you need a proof, I will send you an actual physical object to hold and look at."

If you're putting together a book, and it's at all possible, always give hard proofs a pass before going to press! I finetoothed the digitals multiple times but I'm still finding at least one thing needs fixing or adjustment on 3 out of every 4 spreads. It's just easier to catch stuff on paper!

I've got a curated-over-years playlist that I listen to each late summer, and which I call "Kids on Bikes," the somewhat horror-adjacent before-the-spookies-show-up sweeping and nostlagia/optimism-of-summer-tinged scores of (mostly 80s and 90s) kid films. I might zip it as MP3s to share this month.

Evenly spaced throughout Capercollia's fields are ballistae, upward-facing and easily swiveled to protect the country's precious livestock. Guards are still posted to most, but there's rarely cause to fire them nowadays... (Read more Fire in the Highlands at the link below...)

So I've never read WHITE SHARK (I have seen the miniseries) and I'm a sucker for faux-science rooted horror, but it does not seem to have an audiobook version, and my sit-down-and-read time is almost exclusively devoted to research stuff. C'est la vie!

48. Peter Benchley, who wrote JAWS, wrote another killer shark novel called WHITE SHARK, only this time the shark is a mutant human hybrid made by nazi scientists. It got made into a TV miniseries with Craig T Nelson! My "take" on this is that I'm very glad it exists.
