Such a privilege to present in @basaphasia.bsky.social conference symposium with @abracabadger.com, @annacaute.bsky.social, Chirag Girish Kiran and @susieslt.bsky.social about #gesture ax & therapy. 1/2 #BASConf25 #aphasia
Consideration of application to the clinical setting... and lots of discussion, including the importance of combining gesture with other modalities
We now have a symposium with speakers discussing perspectives on gesture assessment and treatment with Anna Caute, Abi Roper, Chirag Girish Kiran, Sussex Williams, Elissa Manzi. Gesture is critical to communication and there is an unmet need for standardised assessment. #BASconf25
Brilliant to start #BASConf25 hearing about the wonderful city of Dundee! Excited for the day ahead @basaphasia.bsky.social
What an incredible afternoon at the Norwich Aphasia Choir concert. The joy in this picture says it all! More than just music- it was a reminder of the power of community and communication. Now I’m excited to head to Dundee to share about the choir’s songwriting at @basaphasia.bsky.social Conference!

Yesterday our aphasia choir wrote their own song. All words carefully chosen collaboratively by choir members, with a contribution from each individual included. We used art and total communication to generate ideas and support those with severe aphasia. And it was indeed a beautiful day! 🎵
Thanks for highlighting our review! An under researched area that I’m looking forward to shedding more light on‼️
We know communication partner training is extremely important for carers of people w #aphasia, but what about other interventions? Our PhD candidate @nelsonjslp.bsky.social conducted a review. There are lots of promising approaches! Most with exploratory evidence only. doi.org/10.1080/0963...
