for the maybe two people who follow me and will see my posts today, I am participating in the pitch event QueerPit so there will be four identical posts total throughout the day :) art is by queerente on instagram!
can vouch for this, they’re pretty great at creating art you will want to stare at forever
HEY👉 if you're looking for [book covers][book art] I can tell you I have are a very particular set of skills or whatever that guy said. I'm available for #bookcovers and #characterart work! 🎨marslauderbaugh.weebly.com
Today is Trans Day of Visibility. Please add these books to your TBR!!
okay so fun fact when you’ve never seen art of your characters before, reading your book afterwards is like reading it in vivid technicolor (so…thanks @queerente.bsky.social)
#TransRightsReadathon begins soon. It's a decentralized event, which means you don't have to sign up or do anything in particular, you just have to love trans people and trans books. Here's what I'm doing this year 🧵 @trreadathon.bsky.social
why on earth does every single machine calculate weight differently?? what is the point of PRs and such when it’s all useless the moment you’re somewhere else
I officially have to shelf MTAS for a rewrite and that sucks, but I and grateful to my past self who wrote another book right after finishing that one because it means I’m right on track to try again without a large gap and I think that’s the best option there is
you have to read to write. a lot. Like you have to read way more than you write for your writing to be worth anything. there are zero exceptions to this
look I know building shoulders is really helpful for a masculine look but the joints are loose enough that I’m pretty sure I can mildly subluxate one at will so they do not care about this fact
I’ve officially started editing the second novel I drafted and guys I’m biased but also it’s kinda great like why am I so excited over my characters meeting for the first time?? I literally wrote the book
so what if I finished my current wip within the month? what then?
ah the joy of putting your current wip into a plotting document and realizing it does in fact fit very nicely and you didn’t accidentally pace it horribly
just so everyone knows, there is no serotonin boost like overwhelmingly positive beta reader feedback
I’m officially in the beta reader stage…time to look at agents and hope people enjoy it (no worries this isn’t stressful at all or anything)
meet Alex and Charlotte, the MC and LI of my first novel More Than A Showmance, now in the editing stage. Art by the brilliant @mmarsloud.bsky.social be sure to stick around to be part of the process as I query and/or to beta read in the future #queerbooksky #booksky
so I know that having your best friend tell you that your book is good means nothing in the professional world but knowing that someone liked it is still really exciting (she did have good notes for me and also doesn’t read romance much so my bsf is top tier actually)
making edits is actually so satisfying like I knew something was off and now someone told me what it is so I can fix it and it’s no longer annoying
Yes, i'm posting this everywhere, okay!! I commissioned Sarah @queerente.bsky.social for a drawing of Gene & Luis from KT Hoffman's The Prospects!! I adore it!! If you'd like to work with Sarah, check out their work & website here: www.sarahcorrente.com
as of a week ago, my second novel has been entirely drafted it went much faster than I thought and is a little short, but draft one is done
book 1 draft 2 is officially in the hands of my alpha readers this isn’t extremely terrifying (and also so exciting) or anything
I’m at a gym (in a different state) and have officially outstayed every single man that came in when I was here it’s been like an hour but still
being an author on Valentine’s Day is spending the day writing characters having their meet cute and getting some kisses while I myself get reminded paragraph by paragraph how single I am
My neighbors are watching the superbowl so loudly my entire wall is vibrating I can hear it and also feel it in my brain. It’s literally shaking my spice rack I can hear every word coming out of his TV very clearly
writing dual pov is so fun because you get one character’s view talking about the things they like about the other character followed by the other character thinking they’ve immeasurably screwed up by doing something socially awkward and of course actually doing the thing the one character liked
being a writer is so ridiculous— what do you mean I’ve been too scared to write a chapter for the last few days bc I want it to be perfect it was my idea. I outlined it. I’m the only one who’s going to read the draft who is it supposed to be perfect for???
sometimes you get to do what you want and sometimes your muse takes the reigns and decides you’re going to write until it’s satisfied (5k words) and not read a single page all day I have to be up at five am tomorrow I’m going to sleep now
