Poet, Victorianist, cries easily at movies, general-purpose nerd. Montréalaise. She/her/elle

Generally speaking I love living alone, but I admit there are times when it would be nice to have someone to clean the blood off the kitchen floor and feel sorry for me a bit. (Am fine. Stubbed a toe in such a way the nail came off is all.)

Right. Voted early and voted for the party that I reckon will do the most good and that doesn't have the weird nugget of racism that a few of the other parties have. Best I can do and it means I can start my annoyed letters to my MNA with "as a (riding name) voter...". #votequebec

My choir was giving out free tickets to see Iestyn Davies sing Handel tonight. What a fabulous evening. Amazing musicians accompanying him too, les Violons du Roy, who included a bass lute among other things. Just brilliant. He was so _nimble_.

Small Beloved Child saw an octopus kite when he was two and was obsessed with the Octopus in the Sky. When i found Octopus Shocktopus, about a giant octopus that falls from the sky to live in a small town, it was my Best Aunt Move Ever. We read it eight times in a row immediately.

The desperation in adults' eyes as they ask, "Do you have any books on sharks?" as a small child in a shark shirt vibrates next to them. 😂🤣

It is semiannual "buy an aubergine because I want to be the kind of person who cooks aubergine" week! (It's a common vegetable. It is just not one I ever had growing up or in my twenties, just not in my culinary idiom.)

Quebec election seems, as usual, to be a choice between "party who is not going to do much that I particularly like" and "party who cares about a lot of things that I care about, like transit and infrastructure and culture, but is also weirdly racist so not an option for my actual vote."

Doing a Big Thing for my mother's milestone birthday, and the price for a major part of it comes out to pretty much exactly the interest earned from money my aunt left me a few years ago. Mum's getting a last birthday present from her big sister. I'm sitting here feeling a little weepy about that.

25 years ago, I was running a little late to CEGEP so got right in with no chat, and my teacher said "well, the world may be ending but you'll all know how to write a thesis statement." The guy next to me saw I was confused, and told me. "That's not funny, don't joke about that," I said.

There are few experiences like watching Brad Gushue win from the university pub in Newfoundland and then staggering into your classes hoping your professor won't notice you are drunk, except he was also in that pub and is also verging tipsy

Brad Gushue One of Canada's greatest curlers, he has appeared at the Brier a record 23 times and won the event a record six times. He is a five-time World Champion and won Olympic gold in 2006 and a bronze in 2022.

Astrophotographer Adam (AJ) Smadi caught this image a few hours ago from Washington state. A thin crescent Moon, sunlight illuminating the rugged lunar surface. And 2,400 times farther away—and on the other side of the Sun—mighty Jupiter, and its moons Io (left) and Ganymede (right).

A crescent Moon seen during the day, arcing from upper left to lower right of the frame. At lower centre is the full disk of Jupiter; the small dots to its upper left and lower right and Io and Ganymede, respectively.

When you think to yourself, "okay, I'm gonna get that citybuilder DLC and spend a nice night poking at things and playing Spreadsheets The Game" and it turns out that when you bought the citybuilder, you bought the edition that included future DLC so you already own it: Hurrah!
