El-Sayed: "They think they want to use my whole name against me. Mike, listen man, If you can't say the name -- it's Abdulrahman -- keep the name out your damn mouth."

that HWA newsletter op-ed was disgusting, juvenile, stupid, AND poorly written, but I do think we need to underline the distinction between "the organization allowed a bad essay to be published in an official communication" and "the HWA endorses this point of view"

finally read Black Flame by @scumbelievable.bsky.social and I think it has the most loving depiction of a fat person I have ever read? it is also vicious, violent, gross, sexy, uncomfortable, and triumphant. I loved it. if you've not read anything by her yet this is a great place to start, imo.

Angela Carter writes she’s the reason the modern art museum had to screw little “DO NOT HAVE SEX WITH THE ARTWORK” plaques onto every flat surface

Angela Carter writes like her erection lasted more than four hours and she’s going to make it everyone’s problem in general and also my problem very specifically

And THIS is why I got Emily's book in my middle school reading room. Middle grade ain't dead and the kids LOVE the safe engagement with big scary feelings that horror can provide!
