it looks like montreal west is soon getting its first bixi stations! there were originally going to be six cities joining the network this season, but montreal west brings that number to seven. there will be three stations in the city to start. #biximtl

the first sponge street in #montreal was inaugurated this afternoon. it’ll help reduce the risk of flooding in the area as intense rain events become more common due to climate change. the city also closed the street to through traffic, making the area safer for pedestrians. 📍 rue larivière

if you’re looking for something to do this summer in #montreal, you can attend one of the free guided tours at city hall. the visit is about an hour long and is super interesting since the building has been recently renovated.
via rail announces the co-development of a new train station in dorval that will serve both via and exo at the same place. (there are two stations right next to each other right now.) media.viarail.ca/en/press-rel...
today, i took the train to visit this low-income housing complex that was completely renovated a few years ago. a few buildings were demolished to make way for this shared street to increase the sense of belonging and safety. 📍 habitations saint-michel nord, #montreal
the #montreal metro is being extended on the island for the first time in more than 30 years. the tunnel boring machine has recently started its trip to anjou!
In honour of the opening of the new Anse-à-l'Orme (A3) branch, here is the REM overlaid other Canadian cities. I tried to roughly centre Gare Centrale with the centre of the city to convey just how much high-quality, automated rail has been built in such a relatively short period of time!!
i got to try the new rem branch in the west island before the general public, and i filmed the ride. enjoy! (and don’t miss the open house this weekend!) youtu.be/8t8-qXv_-hQ

if you're looking for new places to discover in #montreal this spring-summer, check out the parc de la traversée in pointe-aux-trembles. this linear park is 4.25 km long and was built on an old railway right of way.
instead of making westminster avenue safer for all users, montreal west decided to install signs like this one (there’s not a single metre of bike lanes in this city btw)
beautiful day to bike in #montreal (and for montrealers, guess my location!)
