Good argument here for why informing the player (even if it seems obvious) can have a significant positive effect. Giving a little bit of insight into the game's inner workings can help show all the work you are putting in that might not be seen on the outside. #gamedev
kind of funny to think about that period of games where you would make a choice and the game would flash an explicit ui element saying "there is going to be a consequence for this choice" and people were like "wow its incredible. there are consequences for your actions in this game"
I've been listening to a few indie dev podcasts and I'm shocked how many solo and small dev teams dont have a general roadmap or anything to track tasks with. #gamedev
If you see this kind of comment under a game on @itchio make sure to report it. I've censored the URL, it's always different (afaik) but malicious tricking people into thinking it's an updated version!
Here's what's happening in the background of my planet generator. The inner density doesn't actually matter that much because I don't plan on doing displacement. #godot #godotengine
Arachnid-dev fixed the procedural walk animation for their spider in Unity, improving how it moves in-game, what do you think of the new result? 🕷️ See more: www.reddit.com/r/Unity3D/co... #unity3d #gamedev #indiedev
oh man end of an era right there. at the start of the modern indie scene, it was always so exciting to see all the wild and new stuff coming out of here. glad its spirit lives on in so many other game jams today
After 20 years, influential game jam Ludum Dare will wind down: aftermath.site/after-20-years...
I'm struggling to create a procedural terrain generator using Unity Terrain. I tried NOT using Terrain but its really the most performant option for navmesh and has built in LOD handling. Any tips here? #indiedev
My erosion filter is out! Video, blog post, and shader source. It emulates erosion without simulation, so it's fast, GPU friendly, and trivial to generate in chunks. Explainer video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4V2... Companion blog post: blog.runevision.com/2026/03/fast... #ProcGen #vfx #GameDev
I recently saw someone try to make the "if a game is good, it'll find an audience" argument the other day and I've been mad about it since. Success is never guaranteed. You can do everything you can to improve your chances, but I wish more people recognized that quality work ≠ guaranteed audience.
My heart goes out to Epic employees affected by the layoffs, and my previous coworkers. Please feel free to reach out for anything
Dune: Part 3 might cement Denis Villeneuve as one of the greatest scifi directors of all time. But we've only seen the teaser so far.
Seeing a lot of devs jump to Godot right now to try something new and escape the reasonable problems with the major 2 engines. Just make sure the engine you choose is one you/your team understands well enough to ship with confidence. The best one for what you are building. #gamedev
Might look into making infographics for #indiedevs from a publishers perspective
The Steam Deck being the 4th most developed for platform now is a pretty big deal. If your game isn't running well on Deck you're leaving a significant audience on the table. #gamedev
With a new game comes a new development post! It's quite technical as I dive into many concepts I learned while creating Cheese Chasers. Thanks to @emmettfried.bsky.social for their advice when I needed it! Give it a read! problem-18-dev.github.io/cheese-chase... #indiedev #gamedev #godot

An in-depth look at the development of Cheese Chasers. How I came up with the theme, the important concepts I learned, and what I'll take with me for the next game.

tips for indie devs, you can ask steam if your game is eligible for a daily deal (link below) We did it for squeakross, timed our big content update with the daily deal and it did great! the smaller peaks are seasonal/events sales #indiedev
We have been starved of good scifi films in the last decade, I know we are very far away but I'm looking forward to Dune part 3 and WILL be seeing it in IMAX. #film
