Good thread 🧵 with good thoughts on an enormous challenge confronting for us all. 'Adequately addressing climate change will be disruptive' ... So be it ... Nostalgia should not be a strategy. @standupforscience.net

I attended NY Climate Week w/ @standupforscience.net. I have some THOUGHTS. 1/ Climate change is an existential threat. Addressing it means confronting unequal harms, powerful political & financial interests, & an uncomfortable reality: good intentions do not necessarily produce adequate action.

Question time. Has a new, novel, philosophical concept emerged from the arguments of an existing philosophical concept? Making the assumption that philosophy describes how we may understand reality and science describes the structure of reality. #Philosophy

This is how it's done. Peer review is not a one-time thing. Science should always be checking itself. 🧵

Does the new shingles vaccine (Shingrix) protect against cardiovascular disease (CVD)? Yes, according to a new 'natural experiment' study in @natmed.nature.com. But the truth is sadly far less convincing! Pull up a chair and let's examine another peer review failure in a Nature journal. 1/10 🧵

This! What @cdelawalla.bsky.social said. Now is the time, get off your butts and engage. Don't overlook #3. 👇👇👇👇

Here is what you're going to do: 1. REGISTER TO VOTE www.vote.org 2. Learn about the candidates on the ballot. You should know what Congressional district you live in...at MINIMUM. An educated voter isn't easy to manipulate. 3. HOUND your peers to ensure they are registered to vote, too.
