Need Hanya Yanagihara to know she’s scarred me for life bc I just watched (and cried *a lot*) to Heated Rivalry fully expecting a car to come out of nowhere at any minute and kill them both
I don’t wish to overstate this but I do think I’d sooner off myself than join a run club
just discovered pre-heating my jumper on the radiator and I may never go back
I rewatched Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet the other night and I honestly think the balcony scene really fucked me up. Sobbing uncontrollably at what is arguably his least compelling play

Couldn’t tell you what happened in the new superman film. I spent 2 hrs marvelling at how absurdly supple Nicholas Hoult’s skin is. Incredible. Not a wrinkle on the man.

Don’t do a poetry reading, mention that the following poems are for your recently passed father (for context), and not expect everyone to come up after and offer their condolences. Very stupidly I did not see that coming
Just write words. They don't have to be good. In fact, the less you feel about them the better off you will be. Preserve yourself. You're going to be doing this for the rest of your life.
Buzzing for @brettvt.bsky.social one of our hilarious and exceedingly lovely stanza members for his NPC long listed poem, which he brought to stanza! Feel v filled with much love today for our little stanza group and all our talented poets ❤️
(5/5) Congratulations to the National Poetry Competition longlist! Everyone on the longlist wrote a poem that stood out to the judges, Romalyn Ante, Stephen Sexton and John McAuliffe, out of over 21,000 other works. Well done to all of our longlisted poets!
I think if someone invented the sestina today they would be murdered
SpareRoom is actually worse than the dating apps bc there’s no alcohol involved and also bc they’re not only rejecting me, they’re rejecting my plants. Frankie and Boris never hurt anyone and don’t deserve this

Stocks fell sharply today as 5% of investors suddenly realized that it shouldn't cost a trillion dollars to make a machine that writes terrible poems.
My dad just called me to request we collect his ashes in a weetabix box bc he thinks it would be hilarious. My stepmother does not find this hilarious. Unfortunately for her this does, in fact, make the prospect even more hilarious
Actual pro tip: the best way to break into any creative profession is by helping to support and advance other creators. Your peers are not your adversaries. They are your support group.
Anyone else surprised by Gizzi winning the TS Eliot or is it just me and everyone else I’m talking to on WhatsApp…? Genuinely expected Gboyega Odubanjo to sweep no question. Deservedly so.
Most excited to start a fresh 2025 writing doc. Changing the format this year, pretty wild of me
Genuinely need to stop dating poets, it’s becoming a bit of a trope in a really unoriginal way

My writing process is usually: a) I got this b) well, fuck c) wait that part was real good d) wait no that part sucks e) I am a god of this place f) the fuck is this shit, who do I think I am, why am I here g) oh man I just figured it all out h) mistakes were made I) existential dread
Yeah I can’t finish this. There’s fiction, and then there’s finishing at the same time as someone the second time you shag them, when that someone is 14 yrs younger, inexperienced by admission, socially awkward (I assume autistic? But her writing of autism is ableist to its core) chess overlord.
Reading Intermezzo, the first Sally Rooney book I’ve picked up, and I’m shocked She’s just clearly a woman who hates women? It’s beyond ‘pick me’ fiction she’s just straight up misogynistic… Expect v long thread on this in next 72 hrs May spite read entire works to see if it’s a theme
