New blog post time! This week's game is Knife Edge: Nose Gunner, an often overlooked N64 rail shooter that looks bland at first glance, but is actually very distinct within the console's library. It's atmospherically compelling, mechanically competent, and it even has 4-player co-op! #blog #gaming
Knife Edge: Nose Gunner
Knife Edge: Nose Gunner is exactly the kind of game I love to cover on this blog. You can tell because it’s one of the longest posts I’ve made in quite some time! It’s been sitting here all t…

NEW VIDEO: In 2006 a Washington DC based think tank hired future lead designers of Civilization and XCOM to make a strategy game based on a documentary about nonviolent protest. 20 years later I'm here to tell you why. youtu.be/dmL7Ph4Us8o

Bomberman 64 is the ultimate "Did you read the manual?" check to me because it details the unspoken control quirks and gives good advice regarding the camera that hints at approaching the game with the more considered pace it demands It doesn't prepare you for Rainbow Palace, but it still helps!
While debugging the Magic School Lunar translation, I ended up spending some time reverse engineering the save game format so I can speed my way through all the battles. Turns out it was a lot simpler than I thought! Wrote up the process: www.mistys-internet.website/blog/blog/20...
Decoding Magic School Lunar's Save Game Format - The Future Is Now
As I’ve mentioned in a previous post, I’ve been working on a fan translation for a Sega Saturn game called Magic School Lunar! As I get …

If we're still doing Final Fantasy rankings, here's mine -Haven't played Type-0, XVI, VII Rebirth or any of the XIV expansions -FFXI is in progress and has the chance to rise because the vibes are right
Made during a chat and sharing bc why not

For this #RandomGameSaturday, I have Jet Force Gemini, Rare's meaty, exploratory sci-fi third-person shooter. This game's challenge lives up to its reputation, what with its strict demands for progression, but I absolutely loved completing it with a friend and still see it as a big achievement
This teacup segment being scary is one of the only things I knew about Deltarune going in, so I'm proud of my ability to Lock In entirely by accident

It was nice of them to let Opa-Opa work on the Genesis version of Golden Axe, I'm sure he appreciated the opportunity
In response to the unprecedented number of game developers laid off this year, we have created a bundle on itch to benefit a Game Industry Hardship Fund, managed by @videogameworkers.bsky.social. More than 100 games for 10+ bucks! Please share widely and donate generously! itch.io/b/3802/game-...
This is going to be very cool when it's done! It's even going to have some words from yours truly in it, too ;)
Exclusively for $5+ Patreons, I uploaded a 58 page preview of our long work-in-progress Japanese PS1 game guide www.patreon.com/hg101/posts/...
Somewhat related, here's a promotional video for TVDJ on PlayStation 2. It's more like a video editing gimmick, but with a story. It does the new game plus thing, too @ephemeralenigmas.bsky.social has more on it: ephemeralenigmascom.wordpress.com/2025/03/11/t... #gaming #retro #PS2 🎮
*shuffles through piles of bullshit* Uhh, sure, here's the intro and some gameplay for DJ Decks & FX on PlayStation 2. One of those console music creation tools that were popular for a hot second, around 2004. To be fair, it does look pretty slick #gaming #retro #music 🎮
Here's my review of Truxton Extreme, a return to the vital and influential shoot 'em up playstyle of Toaplan, contained within a game that's worthy of both the original Truxton and player expectations in 2026. This one feels both familiar and fresh; it's got the juice.
Past meets present: Truxton Extreme
Truxton is back courtesy its original designer and composer, with an entry worthy of the name.

New blog post time! This week's game is Ballistix, which is kinda like evocative fantasy ice hockey but if the Shadow of the Beast team made it and put in a whole lotta balls instead of a puck. It's also the only game that shares box art with both a novel and a Judas Priest album! #blog #gaming

Jude's first original skill in Wild Arms 4 is supposed to be called "Phantom Line", but the US release left out the P by mistake, leaving us with "hantom Line". You can actually fix this yourself since the game lets you rename original skills, but I find hantom Line too amusing to change
Save Onigard from the clutches of Emperor Mahj with the power of riichi mahjong! Mahjaventure: Warring Tiles for the Famicom is out now in English! Patch: github.com/Eight-Mansio... Hacking: Pennywise Translation: @snowyaria.goodorevengreat.games Graphics: @nichetopic.bsky.social and Graphicus
At the very beginning of Wild Arms 4, if you grab a wooden sword and swing at a training dummy 100 times, then break the sword after hitting that number (and only then), Jude will level up as a result of his hard work. This gives you a little head start before you've even done your first battle!
Hmm. That's a perfectly normal name for an institute. In fact, it sounds even less suspicious if I break it up into three words and say each one out loud! There's no way anything could go wrong at a place that pursues technological progress at all costs with a name like that!

For this #RandomGameSaturday, I have Frogger 2: Swampy's Revenge, the sequel to that incredibly successful Frogger game on the PS1. I assume this one is at least a bit more reasonable in its difficulty! I have no idea who Swampy is or how my copy got two huge cracks in the case, a proper mystery...
It probably shouldn't need to be said but HG101 and all of its books are 100% gen AI free. Beyond all of the ethical implications, it's also a crap technology that turns out absolute garbage.
Finally checking out this little game called "Deltarune"... You may have heard of it
In Star Fox Adventures, if you get the ball and play fetch with Tricky, he'll change into several different colors after every 10 or so throws. If you do this a whole lot (like dozens of times), he'll eventually change into a color that more closely resembles his original Dinosaur Planet look!
