this is just confusing the field of Illustration with the wider Visual Arts, and Illustration has served largely commercial purposes the entire time it has existed. most great Mucha and Leyendecker pieces were ads. If you want art that talks about the human condition, go to a museum

"Art" these days means very different things to people. For many, it's something they can contribute to the TTRPG / video game / animation / tv industries - NOT something to express their humanity and POV. They don't want to talk about the human condition, they want to get paid to paint dragons.

Saying that painting dragons is not talking about the human condition (when myth and folklore are inherently human) sounds to me like when people diminishes abstract art in comparison to figurative art.

Can someone explain to me why phone games from big companies take so long to actually come out I swear every single time they have a closed beta that lasts for 3 years while also announcing it's coming "soon"
