Back in 2020, as a pediatric hematologist married to a physician, we signed up to volunteer in a field hospital for patients with COVID. We wrote our wills and worried about getting our kids sick. I posted about terrifying outcomes in kids and received death threats. Fauci is a goddamn hero.

Another odd moment occurred when Musk insisted that work in the future would be "optional" because robots would do everything. Musk said people might still work in the future but compared it to people who grow their own backyard tomatoes. He said they could just go to the store for better tomatoes.

Lots of helpful tips going around and as a Californian I'm throwing in mine: if you're still smelling smoke you're breathing it, use towels to seal up your windows/door jams better, and remember your pets lungs are much smaller than yours and you should limit their activity accordingly

I wonder who knows more about film and film criticism -- a professional employed to evaluate art, or a streamer who once used the stench of the sun hitting a dead rat to tell him it was time to wake up and stream. Giving these folks a modicum of "legitimacy" is the worst legacy of the internet.
