Faine Greenwood@faineg.bsky.social · 2d ago100% - I think the sheer scale of the Trump 2.0 attack on so many aspects of international cooperation, peacebuilding, and aid is really underappreciated by the public (not that it’s really their fault, the reporters and media who can explain it are either captured or also in funding crisis).
I appreciate it but ultimately I get no pleasure from being right because thousands (soon to be millions) are dead and there is no "undo" button. Millions of Americans ushered us into catastrophe and it will not (cannot?) be easily, cheaply or quickly fixed.

Haiti remains wholly unsafe. But Trump hates Haitians, and the White House wanted videos of Black people in chains, so they stripped them of status and turned on the cameras.
A (slim) majority of Americans vastly overestimated how many "dangerous criminal illegals" as in, people who have serious criminal violations, are actually in the country. The vast majority of undocumented immigrants are just regular people living their lives.

Millions of them are no doubt true believers (i.e. wanted the racism), but just enough of the electorate are ding dongs who largely don't pay attention, are misinformed at best, & don't understand how anything works. It's not an excuse! They deserve our contempt! They didn't THINK.

They didn't sign up for a domestic Gestapo combined with illegal wars (tariff and shooting)

We should be grateful for it, and for the Canadians who make it possible. They are our friends. But we know how Donald Trump treats people who imagine they are his friends.
