Yet another American election comes down to a choice between "absolutely depraved monster who will destroy countless lives" and "person who is on the right side even if they don't get it right all the time." Amazingly, we keep failing these tests. Maybe we'll get it right this time.

But in fascist times, the issue is a binary! Nobody appears to be grasping this. There is no middle ground on civil rights, because fascism seeks to destroy them. You can’t compromise with just a little bit of bigotry, just a wee drop of fascism. Either rights are for all or they are meaningless.
