The decision to row back on threats to VPN use in the UK comes after ORG and over 20 organisations issued a joint letter yesterday. We warned that requiring users to go through age checks or other restrictions “would undercut the security and privacy of millions, without making children safer.”

We suggest reading some of the lunacy on the propaganda accounts pushing age verification on twitter right now. It's very enlightening. They are very clearly trying to paint any modern concepts they find objectionable as "obscene" so they can silence it via mass surveillance legislation.

It passed the House 267-117 with 47 abstentions. Disgusting. But the war is not over: it conflicts with the Senate version of KOSA, with multiple Senate democrats objecting to this version and its riders. There is also a minimum of two weeks before the Senate can vote on it.
