Perhaps the most cynical editorial I have ever read: "...many in Britain would enjoy the kind of warmer climate predicted by modellers..." and "...our advanced case of suicidal empathy.." Pure ignorance. @telegraph.co.uk Not worth the ink or electrons. www.telegraph.co.uk/opinion/2026....

We’ve lost the war against climate change. Time to scrap net zero

The lanyard class should have known better than to believe it could re-engineer the world from Whitehall

The new wave of cyclists on the road is a signal to L.I. policy makers not yet meeting the authentic, organic demand for transport beyond the automobile. Cyclists make continual judgements to find safe road spaces. Sometimes dangerous errors are made. On hostile roads, errors are certain.

July 26, 2026 - Huntington Station, Long Island, NY - A bicyclist crosses five lane wide Jericho Turnpike outside of a controlled intersection.

Slow but measurable progress. Meanwhile, where I live, sidewalks are neglected. No one takes ultimate responsibility after their often privately funded construction resulting in a jumble of fragmented parts - a key infrastructure shortcoming that remains for disabled and elderly people 36 years on.

On Sunday, July 26, we mark the 36th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. NYMTC and our member agencies work together to ensure that transportation investments across New York City, Long Island, and the Lower Hudson Valley are made with accessibility in mind.

And: "Mr. Duffy ... urged the senators to 'prioritize motor vehicle travel over bicycle lanes.' ... to restrict funding for bicycle lanes and 'other bicycle infrastructure that reduce travel throughput for motor vehicles and support removal of existing bike lanes that contribute to congestion.'"

The Trump administration is no longer dodging the question of whether it wants to rename Penn Station in New York City. In a letter to the leaders of three Senate committees on Wednesday, the transportation secretary, Sean P. Duffy, listed renaming Penn Station as an administration priority.

ICYMI: USDOT quietly scrubbed bikes lanes and speed cameras from the Federal Highway Administration's list of proven safety countermeasures. Decades of rigorous studies show the effectiveness of those strategies in reducing crashes and deaths, which is ostensibly key to the agency's core mission.

Bike lanes and speed cameras disappear from the DOT's list of proven safety measures

The Federal Highway Administration quietly stripped bike lanes and other safety recommendations from a key list of best practices. Critics say those measures are proven to cut crashes and save lives.

I made an animation which shows the effects of air pollution on pedestrians waiting to cross the road, along with what can be done to reduce its harmful effects: stepback.gregdev.com Thank you to @ianwalker.bsky.social for the inspiration for doing so during a conversation a couple of weeks' back!

'Step back' - air pollution at pedestrian crossings

Every busy road produces a cloud of pollution you can't see. Where you stand in it matters more than most people might realise.
