Biodiversity doesn’t respond instantly to its driver, yet most assessments assume it does. 🚨 The paradigm shift we propose in considers multiple trajectories of long-term environmental changes and disturbance events that cumulate and push biodiversity into a quasi-permanent non-equilibrium state.
