To seek peace in today’s world, Europe must be able to project power. To deter, to counter, and to increase our influence. Security must be our default mindset across all assets and policies. This will be at the heart of our new European Security Strategy.
Trade is not just economics. Almost 2/3 of global growth is happening outside of the US and China. Vast parts of the world are looking for stability and trusted partners. And this is our European offer. We must continue to seize these opportunities, putting our interests front and centre.
On International Women’s Day, I pay tribute to girls and women everywhere who continue to fight oppression with relentless strength, with unbreakable courage. This strength and courage live within all of us. The power is in us.

Today’s agreement between Cambodia and Thailand is an important milestone for peace. We commend President Trump and Malaysia as ASEAN Chair for their efforts in sealing the deal. The EU is ready to support its implementation, including by facilitating de-mining in the border region.
