Honestly in shock. @nytimes.com terminated the contract of romance fiction columnist Olivia Waite because she reposted on Bluesky criticism I and @markjacob.bsky.social had of the paper’s lack of coverage of the new rape allegations against Donald Trump. Details and a statement from Olivia here:

The NYT reported how Dr. Oz held a meeting with Medical orgs and a anti-trans hate group to coerce those groups into backing off their support of trans youth. Jeremy Peters and the NYT framed this shakedown as a reasonable meeting about medical evidence standards. The NYT's bias is clear again.

"A screenshot of a New York Times article published on March 16, 2026. The headline reads, 'In Tense Meeting, Dr. Oz Pressed Medical Societies on Trans Care for Teens,' with a subheadline stating, 'Most groups defended their support for medical intervention. But the Society for Plastic Surgeons broke with the consensus.' Below the text is a photograph of Dr. Mehmet Oz speaking at a podium bearing the Presidential seal, with blurred figures and flags in the background. The article is credited to Jeremy W. Peters."

BREAKING: The Supreme Court granted the Trump administration's request to enforce its discriminatory passport policy while our lawsuit makes its way through the courts. This decision undermines the freedom of transgender, non-binary, and intersex people to have our IDs reflect who we are.

Azeen Ghorayshi, co-author of this NYT piece on the anti-trans HHS report, doesn't bother to disclose being one of its most-cited authors. Ghorayshi is a key historical figure in stoking this moral panic about our young people. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/01/h...

The H.H.S. review may set the stage for additional restrictions on gender-affirming care. Critics described it as an ideological statement.
