What does one satellite look like from another's point of view? On 18 Jul we found out! MTG-S1 & Meteosat-12 share an orbital slot 36,000km up & sometimes cross paths. The IRS on MTG-S1 caught Meteosat-12 over Timbuktu, Mali. ⬇️ The image is low-res, but you see Meteosat-12's solar panels/antennas.

Wildfires are spreading through south-west France today forcing the evacuation of 1000's of people in Gironde. Meteosat-12 captured a view of one of the larger fires this morning. This Fire Temperature RGB layer shows the evolution of the fires, active hotspots highlighted in red. @meteofrance.com

Western Europe had its hottest June on record.🔥 Intense heatwaves broke temperature records, with peaks up to 9°C above average in France and Germany, according to Copernicus data. Only Cyprus and Malta had normal temperatures. Climate change is here and we are feeling its effects
