Average human. Mediocre euphoniumist. Mediocrerer lawyer. I help people buy and sell dirt for a living. Proud band geek and theater kid. Trans Rights are Human Rights.

We know what happens when the left of center party embraces transphobia. Look at Labour UK. Trans rights are lost there for a generation. They've got nobody left to fight for them. We cannot let that same cancer spread in the US in the Democratic Party.

I’m generally a “vote blue no matter who,” guy, but I have some red lines that I am unwilling to overlook. For example, if you throw Trans people under the bus, you will NOT get my vote. Ever.

Time to leave Bluesky. Too many of the people I respected have gone all in on “Platner is better than Collins, so it doesn’t matter how flawed he is as a human being” This is how Trump became president. It was unconscionable then and it is unconscionable now.

San Antonio is a blue city. GOP politicians hate us almost as much as they hate Austin. They don’t represent us and should keep our team’s name out of their filthy mouths.

Zero tolerance is the only correct response to this whackadoo and her bigoted nonsense. She has clearly and unequivocally crossed the line from criticism of Israel into actual antisemitism. She has no place in the Democratic Party. Graham Platner should have been treated in exactly the same way.

This is a truly disgusting, antisemitic comment. I’m appalled at the level of bigotry and xenophobia that has become normalized in our politics. We cannot accept it, and we must call it out regardless of what party or individual it comes from. (1/2)

Man, I read more and more posts on social media sites about how the Dems need to reform the court, impeach people, hold people accountable, completely rebuild institutions, implement universal healthcare, etc. etc. ... and then I look around at the actual elected leaders of the party ...

Like most of our elite institutions, the U.S. Military also surrendered to Trump II. These organizations are no longer entitled to our trust, and I’m not sure they can or should ever get it back.

Maybe the upside to Trump’s destruction of American global hegemony is that we can get rid of our massive, expensive and now domesically dangerous standing army and use the money we save to help people.

I see what Kagan and Sotomayor are trying to do here. If laws against conversion therapy are subject to 1A strict scrutiny, laws against therapeutic approaches that affirm LGBTQIA identities are too. But in order for this to work, their six colleagues cannot be corrupt partisan hacks. And well…

The Supreme Court ruled against Colorado’s conversion therapy ban for minors Tuesday in an 8-1 decision, with Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan joining the conservatives.

@warren.senate.gov’s endorsement of Platner is incredibly disappointing. I voted for her in the 2020 primary and was a huge fan for many years. This decision forces me to rethink that. I can’t support someone willing to overlook Platner’s Nazi-curious past. I thought we were better than this.

It is repulsive to me -- morally, aesthetically, politically -- on a scale that I genuinely don't know how to describe. It's just so deeply, deeply gross, to be so filled with weakness that you abuse other, weaker people to feel better. What a horrible kind of human, to do that, to *allow* that.

I lack the words to capture it, but ... it's just endlessly remarkable to me that so many people in our society have chosen trans kis -- TRANS KIDS, the smallest, least significant, most vulnerable demographic slice you could possibly pick -- as a repository for all their fears & insecurities.
