Another way of framing it: Bhattacharya and his Great Barrington Declaration co-authors were providing scientific cover for an economic agenda supported by right-wing business interests. They wanted mass infection of the population to keep the economy rolling. They never cared about the elderly.

Note to journalists: important to communicate that the stated aim of GBD was to have a massive epidemic (immediately before vaccines became available), and also somehow keep it away from older population at higher risk (which would be about 25% of UK population if take age 60 as cutoff)

Ashish Jha was selected by Biden to be the “Covid Response Coordinator” precisely because he supported the pro-corporate GBD policy of mass infection. It’s no coincidence that he’s now endorsing Trump’s ghouls. I wrote about Jha’s appointment here in March 2022: www.wsws.org/en/articles/...

Wow. Biden's former COVID czar—who downplayed the ongoing long-term impacts of COVID—just endorsed several of Trump's picks to lead health agencies. All of Trump's nominees have spread misinformation about vaccines, opposed lifesaving COVID measures, and promoted false health claims.

While RFK Jr is an absolutely terrible choice for HHS Secretary, I think @MartyMakary at FDA, @DrOz at CMS and @DrJBhattacharya at NIH are all pretty reasonable I have plenty of policy disagreements with them They are smart and experienced We will need them to do well
