Evanston Transit Alliance has two great bike rides planned this week: an Adult Ride (10-20 miles) to the North Branch Trail leaving from Fountain Square Tuesday night, and a Slow Roll (3-4 miles) for families along Lincoln/Harrison leaving from Leahy Park Wednesday night. Come out and join us!

New Divvy stations are popping up across Evanston, like this one near the lakefront. We’re so excited to see more people have Divvy as an option for getting around town. Now, we just need better bicycle infrastructure to match.

ETA announces Slow Rolls for Safer Streets- A new series of short, easygoing group rides to build community and highlight the need for better bike routes. Join us on August 5 at Leahy Park, August 12 at Mason Park, and/or August 19 at Leider Park. Gather at 5:45PM, roll out by 6:00PM. Join us!

Join the family fun and visit ETA's booth this weekend at Connections for the Homeless' Block Party Family Fest, from 12-4PM Saturday July 25th at Twiggs Park. We want to hear about how pedestrian, bike and public transit could be improved for you, and discuss how you can help advocate for it!

Those biking on Church St such as restaurant-goers, shoppers, and families visiting the library are now safer with new flex-posts. This was a section of bike lane frequently blocked by illegally parked vehicles. Thanks to local advocates, City Staff and Council taking action here to increase safety!

Safer crosswalks near Foster & Haven schools plus a lower speed limit on Emerson are coming soon— solid wins for bike/ped safety. We could go further, though, with increased funding and ambition to build more widespread and robust traffic calming like raised crosswalks and intersections.

We had a fantastic slow roll ride last night building community and support for a safer east west bike route on Lincoln-Harrison in North Evanston. These rides will repeat on the first Wednesday night of each month, and we hope to announce routes in other neighborhoods soon!

The Lincoln-Harrison Greenway is one (of many) east-west corridors that ETA wants upgraded for safer biking as part of the city’s upcoming new Bike Plan. Join us on a monthly, family-friendly slow roll ride to show support, starting 5:45PM this Wednesday at Leahy Park (2404 Lincoln St).

Meet at Leahy Park on July 1st at 5:45PM to join an all ages and abilities slow roll ride in support of a safer east-west bike route in North Evanston: the Lincoln-Harrison Greenway. Rides will continue monthly (weather permitting) until the Greenway becomes a reality!

A continuous bike path on the east side of the Channel is getting paved in sections starting this summer, finishing with a Dempster St underpass in 2027/28. ETA has been credited for its support—projects like this only happen when strong resident and advocate voices speak up for safer bike routes.

Meet at Davis CTA station 11:15AM this Saturday to join our summer transit hike to the Chicago Botanic Gardens! We’ll take Pace Bus 213 at 11:25AM and get to the Gardens around Noon. Purple Line accessibility, an expanded bike network, and frequent, all-day regional rail are priorities in CMAP's draft RTP. Evanston’s bike lanes are frequently blocked by illegally parked vehicles. Paint/flex posts are not protection, and as this video shows, enforcement is inconsistent and temporary. Church and Davis need concrete barriers before someone on bike- like a child going to the library- is injured or killed.

Shocking video today in Evanston of an EPD officer responding to a cyclist reporting a truck blocking a bike lane in a tow zone area. He asked the cyclist “would you rather have him block the street?” YES! Bike lanes are streets for bikes, streets are streets for trucks and cars. It’s unacceptable.

Free parking encourages car use, disincentivizes taking transit, and increases congestion. Studies show customers arriving by foot, bike, bus, or train shop more often and spend more per month. Let's support local businesses with real solutions that align with Evanston's climate and mobility goals.
