This discourse prompted some discussion among the Editorial team at #EvidenceBase. I'm exploring whether a special type of special issue is viable: a commissioned and deeply nuanced discussion about the ethics of 'Open' Criminology. Including, but not limited to open data practices.
Returning to this (sorry Matt, I partially agree with you), what happens to research that isnt paid for by the taxpayers? E.g., philanthropically funded, passion projects, and research in the Global South. Does that change anything about the moral calculus?
