Zack Polanski delivers ‘reality check’ to Burnham over ‘biggest crisis since WWII’ after summer of extreme heat
🔥Steve Race is enjoying playing with war toys to celebrate his new appointment to the Ministry of Defence rather than focusing on the risks posed by this summer's heatwave, drought and wildfires.
Wildfires are tearing across the continent and here in the UK as well. This is what climate breakdown looks like. It's time our governments stopped fuelling the crisis and started tackling it.
Andy Burnham seems to have lost his voice on Gaza. Time to speak up. End arms sales to Israel.
"Irans military claims a US B1 bomber flew from RAF Fairford to join US attacks. Iran said the base is now a legitimate target" Burnham could have stopped the US from using British military bases to wage its illegal war on Iran. But he hasn't.
By ruling out rent controls today, Andy Burnham has ruled out so much more. He's ruled out a Labour Government who will work in the interests of ordinary people rather than just the wealthy. Ruling in that real hope was never going to come from Labour. Join.greenparty.org.uk

A few weeks ago, Wes Streeting said there were "serious and substantial allegations of war crimes" in Gaza. Now he is Defence Secretary. He must impose a full arms embargo on Israel and end Britain's complicity in the genocide.
So, from the outset, Burnham showing not only that climate isn't going to be a priority but that he's intent on being, in Ed Milliband's own words, a climate vandal.

Even those in the Labour Party when claim to care about the climate crisis are set to bring about our destruction for profit. They must be replaced with people who care about our planet. Join.greenparty.org.uk
❓We're asking Exeter’s Labour administration: where's our money? 🤔 They are sitting on over £1.5m of delayed or unspent developer contributions. 🤷 What is the plan for that money and when will residents see the benefit? ▶ Full story next
This is infuriating crap. He says: “There's increasing evidence that war crimes appear to have been committed.” He knows Israel has committed war crimes on an industrial scale. He’s refusing to say so because it would impose legal obligations on him to actually act.

'Why Andy Burnham Must Break With Israel'
The likely incoming Prime Minister must break with Keir Starmer's "morally bankrupt" legacy on Gaza in order to restore his party's reputation with the public, argues genocide scholar Martin Shaw

Investment in our security must reflect the world we live in. Starmer's plan won't be worth the paper it's written on if it doesn't address long term threats we face: not just aggressive foreign powers but cyber attacks, food & water insecurity, pandemics and climate breakdown.

Reminder to any aspiring Prime Ministers: approving new oil and gas licences is a climate crime. It won't deliver energy security and it won't take a penny off our bills. The only way to deliver cheaper, secure, homegrown energy is to invest rapidly in renewable power.

Your regular reminder that there ISN’T a “war on cars.” Any objective observation in most cities however, would conclude that for 60+ years there’s been a war on every mobility choice EXCEPT cars. And that’s been bad for EVERYONE, including drivers. Poster via @urbantruth.bsky.social. #UrbanTruth
