You weren't in the Navy, were you? Unless they're about to descend into cannibalism, those enlisteds won't break from their officers. They're all in the same boat. Literally. The officers, if they have a brain between them, will show the crew that they are also being mistreated.

Everyone was surprised at how corruption and cronyism had decimated the Ruzzian military. But to think that, for at least 10 years the same has been happening to the "greatest military in the world"? I'm glad I served when the govt cared about the troops.

The rich don't want to pay taxes but they're perfectly happy to "donate" to politicians more than they'd be taxed. Just tax the bastards. They won't renounce citizenship. The laws around that make it insanely expensive to do for rich people.

my take is that we just lie about the tax increase on the middle class we're also gonna have to do. "oh that's just a basis change, it's a technical adjustment" = fancy way of saying your taxes went up. it'll be like $500/yr for most households

I've been aboard ships where men have made the leap. During the Carter administration! It's traumatic for the entire crew and is undoubtedly more frequent than one might suppose. But here's the thing. The ones that "got away" put a lot of thought in it.

God this is so on brand. They lie about their name. They put out videos of people being murdered in boats and now they claim nobody was killed? I worked for the Defense Dept for 12 years, some of that in a war zone. I am glad I was gone before Leadership lost their integrity and their spines.
